This project commemorates the 400th Anniversary of the meeting of two cultures in New Mexico and the honors the cultures which are the basis for the modern image of the Southwest. The intent of this group is to reach back in time to reveal the forces which were influencing the founding of the first European settlement of San Juan de los Caballeros on July 11, 1598. We hope, by learning from our past, to address some of the issues which touch us today. Expedición de 1598 is formed of a Council composed of the following groups: Carreta por El Camino originates from Santa Barbara, Mexico.
