NE El Paso Rotary President Jimmy Melver states goals of his office

Jimmy Melver hit the ground running when he took over as NE El Paso Club president.

In an interview with this reporter, Jimmy stated that he intends to accomplish four major goals  during his term as Northeast El Paso Rotary  Club president:  the republishing of The Skyliner (the club newsletter);  a working budget; maintenance of the club website, and increasing club membership by 20%.

Progress has begun toward the accomplishment of three goals:  the newsletter became available August 26; the website is already up thanks to Jean Haverstick; and a membership drive dinner took place in August.  The Friday evening event took place at Rosa’s Cantina, thanks to Dr. Gary Ryan.  Jimmy continues to rally the club to support these goals.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The name Rotary comes from how the first club rotated their meetings among members’ places of business.
  • The first Rotary Wheel was a simple wagon wheel. It was supposed to illustrate Civilization and Movement.

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Do you exemplify the Rotary International Four-Way Test?

Lots of fun and bad jokes had by all at Rosa’s Cantina

What makes a good joke? Apparently a few beers and a little bad taste is all it takes as far as the Northeast El Paso Rotarian is concerned.

No matter – the food was good, the drinks cold, and the company fun as we took a well deserved summer break at Rosa’s Cantina last Friday night.

Looks like the Doc can dance. Hope Jean’s toes have recovered by now! It was great to see Kelly again.

Big Thanks to Doctor Gary Ryan for making the arrangements, and to Jimmy Daw for helping out. Good Job guys!
