About Rotary

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas, making it the largest service club in the world.


Fundraising Efforts

Each year our Espanola Rotary club has 2 major fundraising events. Our annual Superbowl-a-Thon, which we time with Super-Bowl weekend. Additionally we have our annual Golf Tournament @ one of the local golf courses in the month of May. Teams of 4 play Texas Scramble (best ball), and it always is a lot of fun. Besides raising money for many worthwhile causes, there are prizes awarded in both the Golf Tournament and the Superbowl-a-thon.

" Two young people to RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Leadership Camp yearly
" Donate money yearly to The Espanola Crisis Center
" Built a walking fitness track at Ranchitos Park
" Funded the purchase of fitness equipment for the fitness track
" Donated $250 to the local chapter of Crime Stoppers
" Donated $6000+ toward the Worldwide Polio Eradication Program
" Donated $10,000 to a NNMC scholarship program that grants $1,000 scholarships yearly
" Donate annually a $500 Al Million Scholarship for a Vo-Tech student at NNMC
" Donated scholarships to local high school students thru the Espanola Chamber of commerce and directly to Espanola High school
" Donated $1,000 to a joint Rotary-Sponsored Women's Education Program in Pakistan
" Twice yearly, the Espanola Rotary Club participates in the Annual Espanola Spring highway cleanup
" Hosted Group Study Exchanges from Australia and India, and Germany in May 2007
" Sponsored junior baseballs camps
" Donate to the Espanola Library
" Supported the Espanola Let's Read program
" Donated toward the Espanola Veteran's Memorial
" Established the Character Counts program in the Espanola elementary schools
" Provided medical personal and medical equipment for a hospital in Guatemala.
" Assisted 6 communities to establish water distribution projects in Guatemala 2004-2007
" Assisted 10 schools with classroom equipment in Guatemala 2004-2007
" Helped sponsor Easter Egg hunt for Espanola children
" Participated in the annual Christmas light parade
" Donated $4000 to El Centro Health Center for Women's Health Medical Equipment
" Collected firewood for Amigo de Valles, a local non-profit, that provides services to seniors, Winter 2006, 2007, 2008
" Collected childrens' toys for a nonprofit charity called "Put a Smile On A Child", Christmas 2006
" Donated money to the "Drugs No Mas" Walk
" Donated dictionaries to 3rd and 4th graders
