  • Espanola Rotary hike

The Rotary Club of Espanola is having its Spring hike on Saturday July 21st. Be at the Big Rock Parking Lot at 6:00 AM. We will drive to the train head. Please forward this information to your clubs and give us a possible count of those interested. We have three of four females who have shown interest in the hike. If we have over ten hikers we will split the group in to 2 pods. Intermediate and beginning. This is a great opportunity to invite guests and family. Youth need to be 12 years old or have a good background in hiking. See attachment for hiking equipment ect. Call Ken @ 753-2700 if you are planning to go on the hike.

  • Bernalillo Fundraiser at the Tamaya resort

For anyone that enjoys a great night out: The Bernalillo Coronado Rotary Club is putting on a charitable event. It's the night before the Wine Festival, at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort. We believe it a great way to start the weekend and possibly a great new tradition. Fortunately for us all, the Tamaya has made a commitment to the community for about a third of what it would normally cost to have a formal sit down dinner. That's a great contribution!  1st Community Bank and a surprising amount of others have committed to buy tables at this event, maybe some of you can too? Or, you're in need of a nice evening, just the two of you? It's an effort to raise money for the purchase of a passenger van or vans, for youth programs in Bernalillo. As the new President of the local Rotary Club I thought I should contact you, as our event draws near. This will be on Friday the 31st of August 2007 at 6PM, dinner at 7PM with Al Hurricane to provide 4 hours of entertainment starting at 8PM. The tickets are $100.00 per person with all after expense proceeds going to the purchase of transportation for after school programs. This evening is simply a very good value for all in our community. To purchase tickets and for more information we have built a website just for this event: www.dinnerforyouth.org Ray Jecklin, President  Bernalillo Coronado Rotary

“Creating a New Element” By Monica Rinaldi

The Bernalillo Coronado Club is taking initiative to welcome the world’s best pre-college researchers to Albuquerque. You heard right…pre-college!

They have joined forces with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2007 to get the word out to District 5520 members. “Some of these students have been researching these projects since the fifth grade,” Russ Fisher-Ives said, co-chair of the event. “They are bringing amazing results in many different areas. These are the people who will meet the challenges we all face.” The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2007, presented by Aglient Technologies, will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center and Expo New Mexico, May 13-19, 2007. Participants will be coming from all over the world in the hopes of being awarded scholarships, tuition grants, internships, and one of the three grand prizes of $50,000 to further their education. How can YOU help? Well let’s put it to the Four-Way Test… Is it the TRUTH? Yes, these students are here in the hopes to make a better tomorrow, with projects ranging from Cellular and Molecular Biology to Energy and Transportation. There are 17 different categories that will need judges from experienced individuals! The on-line registration process is easy.

Is it FAIR to all concerned? It is an honor that Albuquerque has been chosen to host the event which is projected to bring in around 10 million dollars in revenue as well as providing access to research-related leaders from through out the world.

Will it build a GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Yes, the Intel ISEF needs volunteers from the business community -- LIKE YOU -- to participate in the production of this event. Did we mention there will be over 1,500 students and hopefully 600 or more volunteers? Sign up on-line soon.

Will it be BENIFICIAL to all concerned? Yes, just think of the knowledge to be gained, the people to be met, and the fun to be had, simply by participating!

“Talk about Service Above Self, this is a prefect opportunity for us to partner with the youth of the world,” Gino Rinaldi said, past President of the Bernalillo Coronado Club.

*Time to Create the Element* For all members interested in being a part of this event, please contact Jeanette Miller at (505) 867-2007 or toll-free at 888-527-2007 or at the website www.intelisef2007.org

Rotary Club of Belen is celebrating its 70th Anniversary at a banquet on March 17, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Express in Belen. No host cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. and banquet at 7:00 p.m. A Prime Rib dinner will be served. The cost is $25.00 per person. A silent and live action will be held to benefit the club’s Al Fischer Rotary Scholarship Fund and there will be many door prizes to lucky winners. Our own District Youth Exchange Chairman Norm McDonald will be the Master of Ceremonies and Norm assures us that a festive evening will be enjoyed by all.
