Sunny Yates Kellerman has been a Rotarian since 1997. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Silver City, NM, and was a member of Rotary in District 5130, in Petaluma and Healdsburg, CA, before moving to NM in 2005. She served as President of the Silver City Rotary Club in 2013-14. In District 5520, she has been a Country Contact for Belgium, France, and Taiwan on the District 5520 Youth Exchange Committee and has participated as a facilitator for the Rotary Leadership Institute (formerly the Rio Grande Academy). She also served as an Assistant Governor from 2016 to 2019. She is a member of The Rotary Foundation’s Bequest Society and Paul Harris Society.
Sunny grew up in Bethesda, MD, and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Bucknell University and a J.D., summa cum laude, from The George Washington University National Law Center. She practiced corporate and consumer law for four years and taught commercial law -- in Kentucky, Boston, and Cincinnati -- for 10 years.
She also worked for six years as a Senior Manager for the US office of The Global Hunger Project, an international, strategic nonprofit corporation dedicated to ending world hunger. There she was accountable for volunteer training and development, community education and outreach, corporate fund-raising, and event production. She has held numerous positions on nonprofit Boards of Directors.
Sunny and Harry Kellerman met through Rotary (Harry’s son Joe was a member of the Silver City Rotary Club) and married in 2016. They live in Silver City with their two dogs. Both of them enjoy travel, hiking, books, films, and cooking.
